Drew Choir Director is Nominated for a Tommy Tune Award
Drew's choir director, Courtnay Holiday, is among the nominees for her work with the Carver Theatre Department's production of Once on this Island
The nominations were announced and they received eleven nominations
Best Overall Production (Musical), Best Direction, Best Choreography, Best Musical Direction,  Best Orchestra, Best Costume Design, Best Ensemble/Chorus, Best Actress  (Jazmyne Charles, Timoune), Best Supporting Actor (Ri'Chard Jordan, Tonton Julian), Best Supporting Actress (Kai Womack, Mama Euralie) & Best Featured Performer (Elysa Aguilar, Erzulie)
The Tommy Tune Awards will be held April 18 at the Hobby Center and will be featured on ABC Channel 13 in May or June.  Each school that received Overall Production will perform a scene from their musical for the awards ceremony. Also, Best Actor/Actress nominees will perform a melody with all the other nominees in that category.  In addition, two students will be selected to perform in the closing number of the awards ceremony.   Thanks go to Anderson, Bethune, Houston & Drew Academy students who were part of the ensemble.  This was Carver's 10th year participating and 4th time receiving Best Overall Production (Musical). We are Panther proud!
