Badger Dress Code Policy

Drew Academy will follow the district standardized dress code policy.

Tops will be polo style shirts with collars
Bottoms will be Khaki color pants, shorts, capris, skirts or skorts
Jeans and spirit shirts will be allowed on designated days by the building principal and will be communicated at a later date.

**ONLY CLEAR OR MESH BACKPACKS WILL BE ALLOWED**

  • All tops must be long enough to cover the midriff completely under normal circumstances and be tucked in.
  • No pull over shirts or hoodie jackets. All jackets must have a zipper.
  • Shirts and blouses must be buttoned except for the top two buttons (or zipped to the same degree).
  • Sheer clothing (tops & bottoms) is not permitted.
  • All tops must have shoulder straps. Muscle shirts and net shirts are not acceptable attire. Boys must have sleeves on all tops. Spaghetti straps are not allowed.
  • Pants, skirts and shorts must be worn securely, at the proper height, around the waist.
  • Exposure of undergarments is unacceptable. Appropriate undergarments must be worn at all times. No oversized clothing is permitted.
  • Hair color for all students must be of the natural color. (No red, blue, purple, etc.) Hair must be neat, clean, and well groomed. Extreme hairstyles are not permitted.
  • Hats, baseball caps, and bandannas are not to be brought or worn to school.
  • Clothing, makeup, jewelry, tattoos and clothing must not reflect or suggest drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex, vulgar language, gang affiliation, violence, death or satanic ideology.
  • Official military insignias on clothing, except LOTC uniforms, are not permitted.
  • Sleepwear and lingerie are not permitted as outer garments
  • Skirts, dresses, and shorts approaching the knee are permitted. Clothing that is too short, made of Lycra or spandex, and boxer shorts are not permitted. Length must meet the requirement in the front and back and allow one to walk, bend and sit with modesty.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times. Shower slides, flip flops, athletic-type slides, stiletto heels, soccer sandals, shoes with lights, cleats and skate shoes are not permitted.
  • Cut, torn, frayed or ripped clothing is prohibited (jeans, shorts, skirts, tops, etc.).
  • Nose, eyebrow, and tongue/lip studs are prohibited. The only visible piercing allowed is earrings for girls. Boys may NOT wear or bring earrings, ear studs, or loops to school.
  • Apparel must be neat, clean, modest and worn appropriately.
  • Students must wear school IDs around the neck and on a school approved lanyard at all times. Temporary IDs are $1.00 daily or students may purchase a permanent ID for $5.00.
  • Low cut or sagging clothing is not permitted. Exposure of body parts is prohibited.
  • Leggings/Jeggings and tights may not substitute for pants or shorts.
  • Sideburns may not extend below the tip of the earlobe for boys.
  • Boys must be clean-shaven at all times. No facial hair should be visible.
  • Boys may not wear hair fasteners of any kind, including beads. Rubber bands that are the same color of the hair for ponytails and braids are permissible.
  • Cell phones must be powered “off” during the school day and should not be visible.

The discretion of the Principal will be used in addressing any and all dress code issues. Students not in compliance will not be allowed to attend classes.

The campus and district’s general dress code is established to teach hygiene, instill discipline, prevent disruption, avoid safety hazards, promote orderliness, and assure the security of the school.

Bring Your Own Technology

Aldine ISD permits students to possess cell phone devices on campus to support student safety before and after school. Our policy requires supervision of students PK-grade 1 by adults at bus stops and for walkers. Cell phones are prohibited for students in grades PK-Grade 1.

Starting with the 2014-2015 school year, students are allowed to bring their own mobile computing devices to school for use in their classes. Aldine ISD will now be incorporating the use of such items as laptops, iPads, tablets and cell phones with browsing capabilities for educational purposes only.

Any parent who wishes that their child use a personally owned electronic device within Aldine Independent School District (AISD) must read and agree to the following policy.

  • The student is responsible for the security and proper care of their personal device, including any costs of repair, replacement or any modifications needed to use the device at school.
  • AISD is not responsible for any damage or theft that may occur.
  • Violations of any Board policies, administrative procedures or school rules involving a student’s personally owned device will result in the loss of use of the device in school and/or disciplinary action as stated in the cell phone policy.
  • Technology may be used at the discretion of the teachers as their lessons warrant – the student must comply with teachers’ request to shut down the device.
  • Devices should not be used at lunch, recess, or gym class as stated in cell phone policy
  • The student will not use the devices to record, transmit or post photos or video of a person or persons on campus.
  • No images or video recorded at school can be transmitted or posted at any time without the express permission of a teacher.
  • The student will only use their device for educational purposes.
  • The student MUST use the district’s public and Children’s Internet Protection Act of 2011 (CIPA) compliant wireless network.
  • The use of 3G/4G wireless connections is prohibited.
  • The student should have full working knowledge of how to use their device.
  • Teachers are not responsible for the training and use of student devices.

Cell Phone Policy

Aldine ISD permits students to possess cell phone devices on campus to support student safety before and after school. Our policy requires supervision of students PK-grade 1 by adults at bus stops and for walkers. Cell phones are prohibited for students in grades PK-Grade 1. Cell phones are prohibited at the District Alternative Education Program (Compass) and GAP Center.

  • Cell phones must be turned off and cannot be visible on campus during the school day.
  • The campus includes loading and unloading areas for cars and buses, in the building, or on campus grounds.
  • The school day includes but is not limited to, before or after school, class time, passing periods, lunch periods, after school detention or tutorials, during emergency drills, practices for extracurricular events and field trips.
  • Placing a cell phone on vibrate or texting is not considered off and is prohibited.
  • Using a cell phone to record or video tape is prohibited.
  • Students are not permitted to possess radios, MP3 players, video or audio recorders, DVD players, cameras, games or other electronic devices at school unless prior permission has been obtained by campus administration.

Violation of this policy will result in the following:

First Offense:

  • The cell phone will be confiscated and returned to a parent or guardian after a seven (7) calendar day waiting period.
    OR
  • In accordance with Texas Education Code 37.082 a $15.00 administrative fee will be collected and the phone will be returned to a parent at the end of that school day.

Second Offense:

  • The cell phone will be confiscated and returned to a parent or guardian after a thirty (30) calendar day waiting period.
  • In accordance with Texas Education Code 37.082 a $15.00 administrative fee will be collected.

Third Offense:

  • The cell phone will be confiscated and returned to a parent or guardian after the end of the school year.
  • In accordance with Texas Education Code 37.082 a $15.00 administrative fee will be collected.

If the return period ends during a school vacation or holiday the phone will be available for return the first day school is back in session.

Any violation of this policy which causes or involves a distraction or interruption of transportation, the instructional environment or leads to the violation of other district rules or policies will be subject to disciplinary action according to the Student Code of Conduct.

Failure to comply with a staff directive to turn in a cell phone will be considered defiance of authority and subject to disciplinary action according to the Student Code of Conduct.

If parents must contact a student during the school day they are requested to contact the school office for assistance.

Students requiring using a phone during the school day must use a school phone available for student use with appropriate permission.

Aldine ISD personnel are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged cell phone or electronic devices.

State testing guidelines prohibit cell phones during state testing ( TAKS, TELPAS, STAAR, EOC).

Any violation of this policy can result in the invalidation of the assessment and further disciplinary action according to the Student Code of Conduct.
